My little artists.

Middle A has become quite the artist. She is a visual spacial learner and often puts on paper what she sees "in her mind" or what we call "in the air", since she is often caught looking up to the side when she is thinking about something ;)

This morning I found this awesome picture that she had made last night. She cut individual shapes out of construction paper and glued them to make a picture of her and little A playing at the park. Amazing!

After we finished with our core subjects for the day, I let the kids paint using water colors.  They have been asking for days to paint! Even Baby A got in on the action.....she's obviously more interested in painting her face and sticking the paint brush in her mouth than anything else....but its exposure, right?

This afternoon, Little A found an old cd rom that we had. It was a Blues Clues art cd and he LOVES it! He loaded the disc up all on his own after lunch today and started it up!  Apparently, 3 years old is not too young to learn how to use the computer.

I am far from crafty, but my children seem to be very interested in the arts....guess I better put on the big girl pants and learn to deal with the messes that crafts bring because it keeps them busy and they LOVE it ;)

Caught red, er- white handed!

Mama-" What are you doing miss Baby A?"
Baby A-" I-oh-no" (I dunno)

 Mama-"Are you having fun?"
Baby A-"YEAH!"

 Mama-:"What is that?"
Baby A- "Apoh" "Yo Yo" (apples and yogurt)

Mama- "Who DOES that belong to? You?
Baby A- NO! "yaya" (middle A)

Mama-Ah ok. All done?

Baby A- Ah done!

**Note to big sister- clear the table when you are done with your food ;)

A Week in our Homeschool- Wordless Wednesday Edition (kinda)

A post of thankfulness today....

Big Brothers reading to Baby sisters so Mom can teach math and phonics to Middle A

Little Brothers playing with Manipulatives during Math time.

Little girls doing their names ever so diligently, with no help, might I add?

Little brothers who like to draw pictures of Jesus during our Bible time when asked to draw something about what he prays for .

The Holy Spirit who reminds me about the shenanigans that happen when mama is making important phone calls and not paying atttention, and how I needed to laugh at these little things, instead of getting upset.

(someone please call the grammar police on me with these sentences that I have no control over)

Of course, tomorrow will be a totally different day, as is everyday around here lately. I accept it though. Will just roll with whatever God has in store.

Teach em' while they are young

Lately, my children have been wanting to help me around the house. I know! I said "WANTING". Middle asks to help me with the dishes and takes it upon herself to grab a baby wipe (hehe) and dust the furniture. She has also been pretending to wash her own clothes and put them away. Big A has been doing a ton and is getting good at delegating chores to the little ones *tongue in cheek*.  Little A, well, let's just say he likes to help....he really does, but is just to darn busy to and is often caught making more messes right behind the person cleaning ;)

The baby...well she is no exception. She is loving being able to walk around and help...so we put her right to work!

I need to keep them at it with some new chore charts or something. What do you all do to keep that enthusiasm going without sounding like dictator mom? Because we all know, no one likes a dripping faucet.

Happy Birthday Middle A!

Today was Middle A's 6th birthday!  She requested homemade pizza and a Sonic the Hedgehog Birthday cake. Yup. She's a girlie girl...not! LOL I made her cake as best as I could using what I had (which is NOTHING when it comes to cake decorating..lol). It turned out decent and she was happy...that is all that matters, right?

I'm a little bummed because I wanted to post this montage of pictures from her as a newborn on up, but they happen to be on my crashed hard drive...oh well. To top it off, my sd card was full, so I had to use hub's ipod to take these pics...arggghh. LOL

(ha, ignore the undies and half of Gramma lol)

Happy Birthday, Middle A. Mommy and Daddy love you!

March Madness!

This post isn't about basketball, sorry. I'll let you leave now... if that was why you came to visit my little ol' blog ;)

Ok, now that they have left (you know, those Laker freaks, I mean fans) I'll get to what this post really is about. Busyness and a lot of it! But, what a blessing it has been, because not being able to be home really brings me to the point of desiring home and all that it entails to be a homemaker. I don't miss those days of being constantly out-and-about.

I really don't.

I totally see that now.

These last couple of months have reminded me of what life was like once upon a time when hubs and I had our own business, and I was in constant motion. Traveling from here to there, eating out constantly, and coming home to a house in chaos, because no one has really been home to keep it. I am so glad those days are long gone. I kept telling myself that this was just a season, and it to shall pass....and it will soon. So I just keep my eyes toward what the Lord has called me to do......Until the next season.....but for today........I took some time to breathe. To sit and watch my children as I used to. Just really take in the moments I have with them and watch them play and interact with each other. I have always been a people watcher. Now I just watch my children mostly, and that is just as fun. Here is a little glimpse of a small amount of time I was able to capture today in the midst of all our busyness.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven...........

Psalm 127: 3-5
Sons are a heritage from the LORD,

children a reward from him.

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior

are sons born in one's youth.

 Blessed is the man

whose quiver is full of them.

Good Friday

A drawing done by my 5 year old on her magna doodle, totally done on her own. Its Jesus if you can't tell, on the cross, on that good day. He died for us because He loves us, she says. She totally gets that.
Wow. She really does.
There are grown men that don't get it, but she does.
Thank you Jesus, for suffering, so that I (and she and YOU) might live.

Thank you for the cross.

Children...

This week I am realizing how fast my children are growing and I would love it if someone would step on the brakes for me.

Just this week:

Big A has asked me if he could taste my coffee, when can he start saving up for his own car, and said he wants to graduate early so he can start college. He's also become quite the helper with his baby sister....sigh...

Middle A turned 5 yrs old and has said that she doesnt want THOSE pajamas or THOSE pants..I want to wear THESE ones...as if she now has a choice at 5 yrs old. She's also told me numerous times that I'm a nice Mom and she loves me over and over...sigh......

Little A is going to be getting his first haircut. His dark blonde curly locks will be no more...and will probably make way to a much darker brown shade. He is telling me when he needs to "go" and says Mommy now instead of Mama. But, he still sneaks in bed with me when daddy goes to work to snuggle......

And finally Baby A.....she has started crying for me, actually looking for me now when someone else is holding her. She is giggling, and "talking" to me under her breath....sigh.....3 months old already..time flies so fast.

Thankfully, my husband has learned to make these for me..I am spoiled.

Big A. The Weather Boy.

Photobucket

Big A has loved learning about the weather since he was very young, he actually wanted to be a meteorologist at one time. He even had a blog last year with weather as the theme, but slowly lost interest in that as well....he had nothing to write about except the dry, dry heat for the most part. As he's gotten older and realized the weather here is Southern CA isn't so exciting, his interest started to decrease more and more lately. This week is an exception, we are having some freak thunderstorms and even tornado warnings, which is really piquing his interest again. Next year we'll be doing earth science and some weather related studies, but until then we are having some real living science happening around here. Stay dry!

Weekly Review -

Week has been busy again...but not so much that I didnt take any pics ;) I'm just going to sort of break it down day by day...and then you'll see what I mean ;)

Monday: Who ever remembers Mondays? LOL. I know we started Unit 9 of our CTC and I needed to clean from a very laid back weekend, but the rest is a blur. LOL

Tuesday: my little one turned 2!! We did school and then headed outside to play for most of the day..it was cool and windy..perfect for playing outside (Well besides the wind..)

Isn't he getting so big!

Whoa..watch out Jr.

I knew you'd be trying to read what that sticker says on the side of my minivan in that pic so I took one up close for ya (car is DIRTY, hence all the dirt we live in ;) )

And of course, more playing in the dirt. We take a lot of baths around here ;p

Wednesday: This was our last day for homeschool PE Class and can I say that I am happy about that? Normally I am happy about getting out of the house to play at the park and let my children run...but at this particular PE day, a dog chased down my little girl and jumped her causing her to fall to the ground..let's just say you've never seen an 8 month pregnant women run so fast to get to her child as I did or hear the words for the lady who NEVER wants to leash her DOG! Had contractions for the rest of the day because of it..sigh. No pics of THAT though! LOL Anyways, that's all I will say about THAT and move onto our next day...lol.

Thursday: We went to our homeschool group's parkday and that was a much better experience than the previous day at the park. LOL. I really enjoyed the fellowship and speaking to other moms that are like-minded......and of course, the kids played in THE DIRT again..Hellooooo children, there IS a playground....LOL!

Friday:
We had a SMALL party for Little A's second birthday...unfortunately there are so many sick people right now and I didn't want them all to come and share their germs...lol....so we just had grandparents over for dinner and cake. It was actually really nice and stress free :)

Mmmmmmmm cake!
You don't want to know about the battle of the Magna Doodle that was happening daily here. So they each have their own now..think that will solve anything? Probably not lol ;p But he did get some other things to keep his attention like a wooden"Choo Choo" :)

OH and Big A memorized his first poem that I wanted to share! Here he is reciting Robert Frost's Fireflies in the Garden....(my first you tube video...next time I will make sure to turn OFF the tv!)

Will post more of a "schoolish" review next week....lol.....just had too much fun taking pics of other things!

My littlest A is 2 already!

Can you believe it? Today is my youngest baby's birthday and it just flew by! I actually have an archived blog of my pregnancy with him and I love to go and just look at the posts once in a while to see and how that pregnancy was compared to this one. Here are some pics of my beautiful boy from the last two years....sigh. Such a sweet boy...even to this day..I am so blessed!

and now he is growing......2 yrs old is one of those milestones...once they hit this age, they never seem little anymore.
